Disc Nutrition & Health
What disc biology can—and cannot—tell us about activity, hydration, and degeneration.
Intervertebral discs contain cells and an extracellular matrix that distribute load. Because adult discs have limited direct blood supply, nutrients move largely through adjacent tissues and endplates. This biology is interesting, but it does not produce a precise home protocol for “feeding” or “rehydrating” a painful disc.
